{"id":5056,"date":"2018-02-06T15:50:08","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T15:50:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/xn--diseopaginaswebenvalencia-coc.com\/barcelona\/why-pentecost-or-corpus-day-are-not-always-celebrated-the-same-day-of-the-year\/"},"modified":"2018-05-16T09:03:53","modified_gmt":"2018-05-16T09:03:53","slug":"why-pentecost-or-corpus-day-are-not-always-celebrated-the-same-day-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barcelona365.info\/ca\/why-pentecost-or-corpus-day-are-not-always-celebrated-the-same-day-of-the-year\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Pentecost or Corpus day are not always celebrated the same day of the year?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are <strong>a lot of festivities while the year<\/strong>, and usually all of them are <strong>the same day each year<\/strong> (which makes it easier to be remembered) but there are some of them that change every year. <strong>Why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of them is <strong>Carnival<\/strong>, but not only, even <strong>Lent, Easter, Pentecost, Ascension and Corpus day<\/strong> <strong>are celebrated different days every year<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>To understand why, we have to know that all <strong>these festivities are Catholic<\/strong>.<br \/>\nMaybe you like or not the Catholic religion or maybe you don\u2019t like any kind of religion, but I have learnt that <strong>to know why things are done in some way, we have to understand the local traditions<\/strong> <strong>and the religion is<\/strong> maybe <strong>the most important one<\/strong>. So, when we travel, it\u2019s important we learn basic thinks of the local religion, whatever is the religion that they follow or have followed. In my country we have a <strong>deeply Catholic tradition<\/strong>, but it\u2019s the same when we travel to a country where they follow <strong>Buddhist; Muslim; Jewish <\/strong>or other kind of religion.<\/p>\n<p>So we were saying that Carnival, Lent, Easter, Pentecost, Ascension and Corpus day are related. All of <strong>them turn around Holy Sunday<\/strong>, when Christians remember <strong>the Resurrection of Jesus<\/strong>. I would say, this and Nativity are <strong>the most important days for a Catholic<\/strong>.<br \/>\nWell, to choose which of the 52 \/ 53 Sundays of the year will be <strong>Holy Sunday, it\u2019s always the first Sunday after the first full moon of spring<\/strong>. As we said the rest of the dates turn around Holly Sunday. So:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Easter<\/strong> is <strong>the week before<\/strong> that Sunday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lent<\/strong> is the <strong>40 days before Easter<\/strong>, which is the time that Christians remember that Jesus spent <strong>40 days in the dessert before to arrive to Jerusalem<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>And before the 40 days of Lent we have <strong>Carnival<\/strong>, which is <strong>the week of excess<\/strong>, when everything is allowed (to eat, parties\u2026) considering that after it there are 40 days of sacrifice. The week of Carnival starts on Thursday and finishes on Wednesday.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pentecost<\/strong> is celebrated <strong>50 days after Holy Sunday<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>finally <strong>Corpus day<\/strong> is <strong>10 days after<\/strong> Pentecost, so <strong>60 days after Holy Sunday<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So, next time, when you complain about the dates of Easter to prepare your trip, <strong>blame to the moon!<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are a lot of festivities while the year, and usually all of them are the same day each year (which makes it easier to be remembered) but there are some of them that change every year.
