Do you know the expression? ‘good things come in small packages’. Well, try Spanish finger food and a show! The best way to end your day!

There’s no better way to discover Spain than eating, and the way to enjoy it is certainly with a local, who shows you the places we go. So, don’t let anyone to pull the wool over your eyes and try with a local the popular TAPAS (cold or hot Spanish appetizers including the iconic jamon ibérico) and Pintxos (a little sandwich that is served on a stick).

The icing on the cake for this evening: A flamenco show, a dance traditionally from the south of Spain but due to historical reasons became very popular in Catalonia, the birthplace of the legendary flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya (she even danced for Roosvelt). You will meet Mimo, a relative of her, who will tell you the fascinating history of the family and will make you understand why flamenco is not just a dance but a way of life.

AVAILABILITY: only from Tuesday to Friday (please ask me if it is possible in August as many bars of Tapas are closed).

I will MEET YOU at your hotel/apartment; at the cruise ship terminal or wherever we agree, as long as it is in Barcelona.
END LOCATION: I will leave you into the Flamenco place. After the show (10.30PM), you can take a taxi to go back.

In this tour we will learn about Iberian ham, cheese, tapas, wines, world-renowned Spanish cooks.
Catalan cuisine is more than 2000 years old. There are restaurants that already existed in the eighteenth century, and locals go to centennial stores that appear in famous international magazines.

Let’s find out more!

At La Boqueria food market, proclaimed “The best market in the world!” during the World Market Congress in Washington – 2005, we will find the basic ingredients of our cuisine: meat offal, fish, Spanish saffron. . .
Outside of the market we will visit stores that have become famous for their specialisation: the ones that sell only oil, or convent sweets, wines from the Penedés or La Rioja, coffee, chocolate stores, or famous roasting factories with more than 160 years of history.
While we discover these places, we will also be able to taste some of their products: cheese, Spanish ham, nougat candy. . . and to eat in a restaurant of tapas and pintxos for their delicacy and this peculiar way of eating.

AVAILABILITY: It’s not possible to book this tour on Sunday and in August because the Boqueria market and other stores are closed.
On Monday the Boqueria market is not so magnificent because so many stops are closed. Besides the cheese store, where we are supposed to do the cheese taste, is closed (but it doesn’t prevent us to do this tour in Monday).

* 25€ per person that you will pay to me in cash at beginning of the tour for the different tastings that I have planned: Iberian ham of premium quality, 3 types of Spanish cheeses with wine or Vermouth, 2 pinchos with a drink, 3 kind of olive oil, nougat candy, natural fruit juice, coffee, and sweets. I have designed the tour in order to avoid mixing sweet and salty foods
* Maybe you find some of these product that we will see or taste during the tour interesting to buy for yourself or as a present (olive oil, Marcona almonds, saffron…). Please consider the extra-cash needed for it.

Meet up location / End location

MEET UP: I suggest starting the tour at the Zurich Cafeteria in Catalunya Square, but I can pick you up at your hotel/apartment/cruise Ship or wherever we agree as long as it is in Barcelona.
DROP OFF: wherever you want. Maybe in some of the activities that I recommend below to be done on your own.

Familiar Cava Winery (5h)

The first Champagne bottle in Spain was produced in 1872. Today the champagne produced in Spain is called Cava. In the Penedés and the Anoia area there are several Cava companies, which make almost all of the Champagne produced in Spain. In fact the little village of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, where we will go, is the so-called “the capital of the Cava”.
The biggest companies are Codorniu and Freixenet. Both together produce more than 200 millions of bottles per year, but we will visit a small and familiar cellar, founded in 1924. They still produce their cava through a handmade process. Visits are limited to a maximum of 12 people and frequently their visits are only for us.
We will understand the ageing process of the “Cava”. We will see how, manually, they disgorge the bottles without freezing the bottleneck (only experienced professionals are able to do that). We will visit the Pupitres (special racks) where the hand-riddling is done.

You will taste 3 long-aged brut nature Cavas (65, 95 and 100 month).
